Vision Quests
Dive deep. Otherwise you cannot get the gems at the bottom of the ocean. You cannot pick the up the gems if you only float on the
surface.
~ Ramakrishna ~
You may be at a crossroads in your life where you need direction, or feel stuck in your attitudes and emotions towards something of vital importance in your life. You may be seeking answers that your conscious mind is unable or unwilling to provide. You may be aware that the time has come for you to open a new door and develop your innate intuition.
Vision questing is one of the most basic, powerful hypno-therapeutic journeys. In an empowerment model this is foundational, very flexible and a very good introduction to how hypnotherapy works, how you can use it and how you will journey in trance. You discover which of your inner senses are the strongest and that you tend to use most: sight, hearing, touch, smell, and kinesthetic awareness; the senses that correspond to those you use in waking reality.
When we let go of conscious efforts, answers may spontaneously arise from a deeper level of our being. At the beginning, you will be invited to move into as deep of a state of relaxation as is appropriate for you. This relaxation is the door to a state of trance. Your trance level may naturally vary throughout the session.
Discovering the Path
We have what we seek. It is there all the time, and if we give it time it will make itself known to us.
~ Thomas Merton ~
Different people experience going into trance in their own unique ways. Some may go under very rapidly by simply closing their eyes, particularly when their question is so close to the surface. Others may take longer to relax, get acquainted with the state and deepen their experience. As your guide, I will suggest that a path appears in front of you. As you travel down this path, vividly experiencing what is around you with all your inner senses, the journey will bring you to a place where you will be invited to explore your issue more deeply. This will often involve the inimitable meeting with your higher self/voice of spirit, however it manifests itself to you.
Meeting your inner healer is a similar journey that can be undertaken when you are experiencing physical or emotional issues and are ready to activate your own healing power. Like higher self, it is an aspect that can stay with you, that you will always be able to access. Learning self-hypnosis is a way to deepen this connection and enhance the strength of your experience.
What follows below is an experience one individual had during his quest to recover his inner vision.
From a man who lost his Muse:
I had gone through an ugly. expensive lawsuit to protect a musical copyright that had been infringed upon. Ultimately I had to let the lawsuit go, which impacted me financially, emotionally and creatively.
Afterwards, I couldn’t seem to throw off the cloud of despair. I was shell-shocked, bitter and disillusioned which took the joy out of my life, specifically in the area of creating music. My spirit was broken and I could not seem to fix it.
I had never before experienced hypnosis, and came to it guarded but willing to try. Kaia was compassionate, patient and supportive in helping me identify the problems, and in ultimately glimpsing the light at the end of the tunnel. As I relaxed into a half dreamlike state she asked questions about where I was going, what I was feeling, and what I was seeing. Soon I just allowed myself to let go of all inhibition, moving into trust and going with the flow.
I soon found myself before a locked portal. Behind were a series of other doors, all encased in Gothic arches with sacred energy and glowing with golden light. When I tried to enter, I could not because it was locked. It could not be forced open either, and though I could see what lay behind it (as if I were looking through glass), I could not go around the portal either. Though this was frustrating, I began to realize that those cherished places were at least still there and could be gotten to… I just had to find a key, though finding the key would require time and work.
I am excited about my experience, and, post-hypnotherapy, I continue to process. Taking heart, I now find I am achieving what I set out to do in that session: to reclaim those lost, battered parts of me and move on. My session was a cleansing, enlightening experience, and I got tangible results upon which to build.
